Introducing Awesome openDAQ on the new openDAQ website
The new openDAQ website is live and it brings a showcase for everything built with openDAQ. Awesome openDAQ features projects and applications from community experiments to company deployments and your project could be next.

openDAQ has a new home on the web and it comes with a stage for everyone who builds with it. Today we launch the new openDAQ website together with Awesome openDAQ, the showcase for projects and applications built with openDAQ, from community experiments to company deployments.
Why Awesome openDAQ
An open standard is only as strong as what people build on it. The openDAQ SDK has been public under Apache 2.0 from the start and the community has been busy ever since. Until now most of that work lived in scattered repositories and conference demos. Awesome openDAQ brings it together in one place so engineers can discover it, learn from it and build on it.
What is already built
Awesome openDAQ already shows how far one open device and signal model can go:
- openDAQ Bluetooth Low Energy device module brings heart-rate straps, cycling power meters, smart trainers and thermometers into openDAQ on Linux, Windows, macOS and Android.
- Arduino openDAQ gateway and EtherCAT bridge turns an Arduino-class board into a gateway that presents an EtherCAT segment as an ordinary compatible device.
- Community bindings for Common Lisp, Java and Rust let developers work with openDAQ devices in languages beyond the official set. The Rust bindings are safe Rust and the Common Lisp bindings are developed against SBCL.
- openDAQ Graph GUI draws a running openDAQ instance as a live dataflow of channels, signals, function blocks and servers.
- opendaq-fs mounts an openDAQ device as a file system. You read a property with
catand watch samples arrive withtail. - DAQCube runs multiplayer game sessions over openDAQ with video, audio and keyboard input carried as ordinary signals. It was built at an openDAQ DAQ Jam.
- Flappy Duck and DuckBreaker turn signals into games. Flappy Duck is written entirely as a Python function block and DuckBreaker lets any measurement signal on the network steer the paddle.
Some of these are serious engineering tools and some are pure fun. Every one of them proves the same idea: a signal is a signal whatever produces it.
openDAQ in real products
openDAQ is already at work far beyond experiments. Today 13 companies are listed as using openDAQ and 12 products are already compatible. Device vendors expose their hardware through one shared model. Software vendors reach compatible devices through one API. System integrators assemble mixed-vendor test systems from products that already connect.
Awesome openDAQ will feature company applications next to community projects. You will see openDAQ in real instruments, real software and real test systems.
What else is new on the website
- openDAQ in 60 seconds shows the problem and the openDAQ solution in one minute.
- The simulator walks you through the real openDAQ API in Python or C++ right in your browser with nothing to install.
- Where you fit shows device vendors, system integrators and software vendors exactly what openDAQ changes for their work.
- Certification explains how products are tested in the openDAQ compliance lab.
- Membership & services brings membership levels, engineering services and member rates together in one section.
Your project belongs here
Have you built something with openDAQ? Do not wait for it to be perfect. Integrations, experiments, teaching material, open-source tools and company applications are all welcome. Send us a link and a few lines about what it does through the contact form or at info@opendaq.com and we will feature it on Awesome openDAQ.
Company applications are featured only with the owner's approval and remain the owner's property.
